I've been to several places where nature continue to amaze me with her beauty. Some of the pictures are old but then, it'll be new to you.
Ano Nuevo, Coastal California on Route 1
We came here to see Elephant Seals. At first, all I wanted was to walk walk walk but I had to stay in the special carrier due to safety. We walked really close to the seals and it was cool! All of them were sleeping though, they barely moved. We had a tour guide who could sign in ASL and the people in our group were mostly Deaf.
Walking with Daddy.
Walking towards the shore, we walked 3 miles total that day. It happened to be very warm and not too windy, a rarity especially at that location.
"Please let me down!!" After walking half a mile, we were told to STAY together as a group and NOT to stray apart.
The lady in red, Pat, is signing, "CLOSE". We were told we'd be very close to the seals and try not to startle them, they could quickly chase us but wear themselves out instantly within 15 feet. The males weigh around 3 tons, FYI!
We walked through the sand dunes and winded around the seals that were lazily lying at random places.
An elephant seal male. It may look small but it really is big, as big as 16 feet and up to 4 or 5 tons.
Fascinated... looking onto a harem- where many seals, females, males and babies were grouped up together. I saw the bull fight with other males and most of them were sleeping. They rest a lot because they're so heavy and full of blubber! The guide explained that their heart beats once per minute!
Many of them by the shore. There should have been hundreds more but they were lost or taken out by the Maverick from the big storm we had a week before.
Bull fighting, the guide said the bull in that one was around 5,000 lbs!
Signing, 'smile!' as we ready ourselves to go back to our car.
The hike worn me out and I slept like a baby, literally.
Lake Tahoe: South Lake Tahoe
We went to Lake Tahoe! It was a first for all of us. We stayed in a nice huge cabin and basically hung out there. It was really beautiful outside but as long as I was inside, I was a happy boy. The snow... I wasn't sure what to make of it.
I wasn't sure nor was I happy, I clung onto Daddy's hands with me dear life.
Please get me out of here?
Us three in Tahoe... in our cabin's backyard.
Inside the cabin, there were lots of us including Aunty Cat, Uncle Kurt and the Cousin Wyns. I cannot forget Dan, he was a funny man who liked to entertain me.
See?
Watching him.
I'm cute aren't I?
Here are a picture from Aunty Cat's- she went snowshoeing not us. However, I wanted you to see how beautiful it was there.
It's a meadow right out of our cabin, you'd have to go through the back gate and walk there. Beautiful!
Whee! We ate at this same spot three times because it was sooooo good, Sprouts Cafe. Methinks Mom and Dad daily pine for it.
Sunol-Pleasant Ridge Trail, Sunol (near Fremont)
I'll let the pictures do the "talking"
Beautiful oak tree in background.
Watching cars whiz by from a distance- you could see the freeway over the hills.
Mommy and I go up to see the tree.
We were surprised to see this. There were literally thousand of holes in the tree's bark and in some of them, stored nuts.
Up close. Cool huh?
The hike worn me out!
Since we have SOME pictures of me sleeping, here's one more:
I dream of cars. **Wanted to add something here, this picture is also special to my Dad because when I was told to go to bed, I got up on the bed and pulled the sheets over myself and fell asleep. Dad checked on me and was surprised to see me 1) sleeping already and 2) covered with something because I HATE having something on my legs when sleeping**
:-D
